Updated Website for the District
As many of you know, the current district29mx.com site has been hacked several times in the past few months. This is due to a security flaw in the software being used to manage the site. I have the option to upgrade the current software or choose a new platform.
As I understand, there is someone else who has volunteered to manage the official district site, but I haven’t heard anything as of yet. As a result I am puting this in place until a decision is made.
In the meantime to save myself time in securring the old site, I have decided to utilize a new platform that is based on a blogging platform that should be easier for everyone to use. If everyone chooses, we can stay with this new platform or see what else is being offered.
A few notes regarding the site, as we have deleted the old management software due to it’s security vulnerabilities.

Windy Hill Sports
AMA Sanctioned
Windy Hill Sports welcomes the Carolina Ultra Series back to Ellerbe, NC. AMA racing in North Carolina has been infrequent in 2010 and now is the time for all the riders to come and give your point of view on racing in the district. We welcome you to practice on Saturday, September 4th (9:30 until 3:30) weather permitting. The riders meeting will be held at 7pm. Of course, we hope that you plan to race with us on Sunday, September 5th. If you have never been to our track, you will be pleasantly surprised. For those of you who have been, you know we pride ourselves in having an excellent track, great facilities and we run an organized race with friendly staff. If you have any questions concerning this weekend, please feel free to call us.

District 29 Schedule
I would like to personally apologize for my failure to update the D29 schedule. When races were scheduled in November, I assumed that the promoters had intentions of running the races as proposed. However, this year that has not happened. I cannot keep the schedule updated unless they inform me of their changes. Thank you to the riders who have called and brought this to my attention. According to the AMA website, Victory Sports (Iron City), NCMP, Devils Ridge, and Windy Hill Sports are the only tracks currently on our schedule that have a current AMA charter. A track must have this charter in order to have an AMA event. There are other tracks that have a charter but do not have any AMA races scheduled for 2010. If you have questions concerning whether the race you are planning to attend is AMA, go to the AMA website and click racing (find a race near you). If the race is not AMA it will not be a D29 race.
Sorry for the inconvience to any of our riders.
Peggy Ussery

Racer X Films: PJ Larsen
I just had to take a second to post this newsbit… PJ Larsen basically grew up racing in our district. It’s always good to see one of “our own” doing well in the Pro Ranks.
PJ will be riding an orange bike! Never thought I would see him on anything but green! He looks really good on the bike and confident in his new venture. We wish him the best overseas, and hope to see his team return to the states in 2011! Keep up the good work!
For a preview of him riding the orange bike and hear hows he’s doing, click though and watch the video on Racer X
2009 Year End Banquet
Even though the season attendance was down, the district still managed to pull off a good year end banquet. Here are a few pictures taken at the event. Congratulations to all those that became champions in their respective classes.

Wide Open MX Park Cancelled
The race scheduled for January 30th has been cancelled due to the weather forcast to arrive Friday night / Saturday Morning. A wintery mix is headed into the area and may make for unfavorable conditions.
The event was originally scheduled as a District 29 AMA sanctioned event on the District schedule that was previously passed out prior to receiving sanctioning approval from the AMA.
Unforseen events have left this event with no AMA sanction approval at this time. While I don’t know all the details, I will keep you posted on future events to be held at this facility.
Since the event was posted on the original schedule… I wanted to make sure you knew not to attend for the above reasons.
