Racer X Films: PJ Larsen
I just had to take a second to post this newsbit… PJ Larsen basically grew up racing in our district. It’s always good to see one of “our own” doing well in the Pro Ranks.
PJ will be riding an orange bike! Never thought I would see him on anything but green! He looks really good on the bike and confident in his new venture. We wish him the best overseas, and hope to see his team return to the states in 2011! Keep up the good work!

2009 Year End Banquet
Even though the season attendance was down, the district still managed to pull off a good year end banquet. Here are a few pictures taken at the event. Congratulations to all those that became champions in their respective classes.

Wide Open MX Park Cancelled
The race scheduled for January 30th has been cancelled due to the weather forcast to arrive Friday night / Saturday Morning. A wintery mix is headed into the area and may make for unfavorable conditions.
The event was originally scheduled as a District 29 AMA sanctioned event on the District schedule that was previously passed out prior to receiving sanctioning approval from the AMA.
Unforseen events have left this event with no AMA sanction approval at this time. While I don’t know all the details, I will keep you posted on future events to be held at this facility.
Since the event was posted on the original schedule… I wanted to make sure you knew not to attend for the above reasons.

Updated Website for the District
As many of you know, the current district29mx.com site has been hacked several times in the past few months. This is due to a security flaw in the software being used to manage the site. I have the option to upgrade the current software or choose a new platform.
As I understand, there is someone else who has volunteered to manage the official district site, but I haven’t heard anything as of yet. As a result I am puting this in place until a decision is made.
In the meantime to save myself time in securring the old site, I have decided to utilize a new platform that is based on a blogging platform that should be easier for everyone to use. If everyone chooses, we can stay with this new platform or see what else is being offered.
A few notes regarding the site, as we have deleted the old management software due to it’s security vulnerabilities.
- Promoters must register with the site in order to publish any announcements, Existing accounts were not transferred to the new site.
- Only official District Eventsand information may be posted to this site
- The 2010 Points will be incorporated soon.
Promoters, make sure you register to post to the site.
District 29 Memberships
The District 29 racing season begins this weekend at North Carolina Motorsports Park. I know Mark and Jill have done a super job promoting and organizing this event and we all look forward to the 2010 season kickoff. Good Luck to all our riders and parents and be safe. Our District 29 membership format, prepared by the appointed committee, is a little different that what we have known. This year membership is sold from year to year, ie. Jan-Jan, Feb-Feb, April-April, and is sold by the promoters at each event. Each membership has a card with your name, an assigned membership number, and an expiration date. With this system, your awards and points will be monitored weekly, as each promoter turns in the race results and receipts within 7 days to our Secretary and Points Recorder. If an email address is on file with the district secretary, you will be reminded when it is time to renew your membership.
Memberships for D29 are required to participate in any AMA District 29 event in North and South Carolina. Please come prepared to purchase this membership at your first 2010 race.
Next weekend our D29 season moves to Myrtle Beach, SC and we hope to see you there. The promoter for this event is Joe Beckett at Jacksonville MX park (910-347-3925).
If you would like to contact me about D29, you may do so by email, windyhillsports@yahoo.com or by phone, 910-895-4387 after 8pm.
Again, good luck and have a safe year.
Anticipating a Great Year!
